Pedagogy

Establishing Life-Long, Future-Focused Pedagogical Practices

Educator desiring to establish myself in a Department of English communications, filled with creative writers, rhetoricians, and literary scholars committed to building an equitable scholarly learning environment that supports a diverse group of students and their success in college.

Interests and Capabilities 

  • Areas of specialization:  Composition/Rhetoric/Technical/Professional Writing/ curriculum design with a background in computers in composition, digital rhetoric, document web-design, and pedagogy.   
  • Interest in teaching composition, technical writing, AI in writing, single-source editing, user experience, grant writing.  
  • Interested in program development growing a well-established online degree.  
  • Experience teaching online, hybrid, and face-to-face.
  • Community and College service activities across the department, college, school, and professional levels. 
  • Communicate subject matter clearly, correctly, and effectively. Use appropriate methods, materials, and technology appropriate to the course materials. 
  • Forming high level junior college discussions in a diverse, eclectic, and flexible learning environment, maintain and keep accurate records, submit grades and reports on time, and enforcing school and campus academic policies; students' rights and responsibilities, and a knowledge of best practices in professional communication. 
  • Develop a professional rapport with diverse populations within the community college.

Clearly define each task students need to complete, how much each task is worth and when it is due provides a clear path to success, transparency, and positive relationships.

Provide students with a correct, clear, and effective communication of every assignment rubric with transparent grading, clearly defined expectations, goals and outcomes on all of their assignments. A well-defined rubric helps builds rapport through transparency and understanding.
